On January 15, 2007 in Beijing, the Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade, and Xu Guanhua, China’s Minister for Science and Technology, signed a Science and Technology (S&T) Cooperation Agreement that would boost collaborative research and development activities between the two countries. In order to provide a platform for the delegates from both China and Canada to explore new approach for managing a successful and more effective research marketing and technology transfer by exchange of good practice, new ideas and sharing of experience, etc.. Canadian Embassy in China organized Canada-China Science and Technology Roundtable.

Dr. Hongxin Tan – General Manager of International Technology Transfer Center (ITTC) and President of Coway International TechTrans Co., Ltd. was invited to introduce technology transfer system of Tsinghua University and technology transfer model, practice and experience of Coway at the roundtable and had focused discussions to explore moving bilateral cooperation forward towards the joint commercialization of projects in new and established priority sectors with Canadian and Chinese officials, academics, and executives
