Energy has always been a focus of the international community.
Here are some facts about China's energy industry.
CRUDE OIL: Output totaled 186.7 million tonnes in 2007, up
1.6 percent year on year, ranking fifth in the world. Crude
oil consumption was 340 million tonnes in 2007, up 6.3 percent
year on year.
ELECTRICITY RESOURCE: The generating capacity of hydroelectric
power plants was 145 million kw, ranking first in the world.
The total generating capacity reached beyond 700 million kw
by the end of 2007, ranking second in the world. Power consumption
was 3.2632 trillion kwh in 2007, up 14.1 percent year on year
NATURAL GAS: The output was 69.3 billion cubic meters in 2007.
Natural gas consumption totaled 67.3 billion cubic meters
in 2007, up 19.9 percent year on year.
FUEL GAS: Reserves stood at 134 billion cubic meters by the
end of 2007.
COAL MINE: Raw coal output was 2.523 billion tonnes in 2007.
WIND ENERGY: Generating capacity was 2.6 million kw in 2006.
SOLAR ENERGY: The country's solar boilers covered 90 million
square meters by 2006
